How does Roots organize their classes?

Our Grammar program meets in the morning, and is for students 5 years old through 6th grade, while the Fundamentals Program meets in the afternoon, and is for 4th-6th graders. The Logic Program is for 7th & 8th graders, and the Rhetoric Program is for high schoolers. Grammar parents are required to stay on campus and rotate through classes with their children.

How long does Roots Classical Tutorial meet?

Our elementary students, Grammar and Fundamentals, meet for 28 weeks throughout the school year while our middle and high schoolers, Logic and Rhetoric, meet for 30 weeks. Grammar students meet in the morning hours while the Fundamental students meet in the afternoon. Logic and Rhetoric students meet all day.

When does RCT meet?

We meet on Mondays at One Church Barfield. http://www.onechurch.org/.

What curriculum do students in Roots use?

Grammar students use Claritas curriculum and are on a 4 year cycle, which coordinates with the history series Story of the World. Grammar families will need to choose their own math and reading programs based on their child's needs.

Foundation of Fundamentals and Fundamental students use Our Mother Tongue and/or Claritas curriculum for their English grammar studies; however, for writing instruction, they use the Institute for Excellence in Writing program.

Logic & Rhetoric students study history, math, science, logic, latin, geography, poetry, and literature to name a few.

How is Roots Classical Tutorial operated?

Roots Classical Tutorial is a 501 (c) (3) company. We have a Board of Directors which oversees RCT. Our Program Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. Tutors are hired by the Board and led by the Program Director. Tutors and the Program Director work closely together to serve families in RCT for the equipping of students to the glory of Jesus Christ.

How are the tuition and fees dispensed?

Tuition stays within Roots and pays the tutors and program director for their services. The facility fee purchases the required insurance for the tutorial and other facility needs. The supply fee is used to purchase the needed materials for science and fine arts. The registration fee covers the cost of business requirements.

What does a typical tutorial day look like?

Logic & Rhetoric classes meet with their peers for a seven hour day with one tutor who presents all coursework while students enjoy conversations, group projects, experiments, and more. Don't worry! Breaks as well as lunch and recess are included in this seven-hour day.

Grammar students meet for 3 hours in the morning with their classmates for new grammar, fine arts, hands-on science activities, student presentations, and memory work games. Lunch and recess occur between the end of our Grammar time and the beginning of Fundamentals. During the afternoon Fundamental students meet for 2 hours to work together on English grammar, writing, and math. Grammar parents attend classes with their children.
